I often ask myself why did I start writing. Writing has always been something that I liked to do to express myself. It’s easier for me to get the message across through words. In-person, I’m nervous at first. Writing expresses a new kind of feeling. You can make the reader feel the power of what you are saying. The reader can envision every word as if they are speaking to me in person. The writing was birthed from many painful experiences in my life. The first real letter I wrote was to my father when we were all going through a trying time in our life. Years later, I found that he still had that note. I remember every word from it. This shows how powerful words in writing are. Things I couldn’t say in person are expressed in writing. Writing frees you from the fear of stares and looks of judgment. You have control over the pen and how you express yourself. The book of Psalms is a beautiful example of how King David expressed what he was going through. At times, I look back on notes from many years ago, and I can see the growth and even the change in my writing expressions. I feel more bold and powerful when I write if that makes sense. Writing is also a form of prayer. Sometimes we can be overwhelmed with grief and sorrow and we can’t find the words to say. While the tears are falling pick up a pen and paper (or nowadays a tablet lol) write out how you are feeling, what are you feeling, and write a solution to come out of that hurt. After you are done writing if you don’t want to keep it you can throw it in the ocean ( Do not throw your tablet in the ocean lol๐) I’m talking about the paper. Here’s something that you could corporate into your daily lifestyle and you will begin to see the changes. Yes, it may take time, but there is powerful healing when you write. So my writing was birthed from an experience of pain. Even though it was a hurtful event, that situation helped me to express myself better. Growing up I would have such a bad attitude and I could not express it healthily. Writing my prayers has helped me greatly and I look back and see how far I have come. So in conclusion, try writing out your pains, joys, griefs, happiness, dreams, and lastly prayers. You will feel the weight lifted off of you. If the feeling comes back, write it out again. Will you give it a try? If so leave a comment below and let me know how you express yourself using writing.
P.S. It’s also good for children who are learning to express themselves healthily. This is a tool I use in homeschooling because it's an opportunity to work on grammar and word formation. ❤

I agree writing can be therapeutic in times of hardship. There are thoughts I wouldn't dear verbally utter for fear of judgment...There are thoughts I've written that were later on suggested to be used as affirmations by my therapist. Lastly, writing helps to organize and make sense of my thoughts.
Yes so true. I found out that it relaxes my mind in times of trouble. So many great poets started out from a experience that has impacted their lives. Thank you for the support and please share :)
